Small local rail station with decent links to Warrington, Manchester, Liverpool and beyond. Stairs and lift access is provided as well as a pedestrian bridge. Close to the local birchwood shopping centre; which is just across the road. Waiting room on the main platform has a heater and some seating but the across the bridge its a little smaller.
Nice little and very convenient train station.
This station has a waiting room on both platforms but like other reviews it can get a bit cold. There are some heaters on the wall which can be switched on for you to stand in front of, how often they work I don't know. The station has recently had some money spent on it and they have built a new bridge which includes a lift for disabled access and parents with push chairs. This was put in around 2016 I think so its a big help. Not that many staff around as it only receives about 2-3 trains in one direction per hour.
Come prepared! It gets very cold, and wet, here - primarily as there is no roof on either of the platforms!
This is the first trainline in the world with a station inside a successful industrial park between Liverpool and Manchester, so you'd expect a top of the class station. Instead you get a basic and run down station, most of the train are delayed either way, not enough bike locker, bus service not integrated etc etc
